A business owner with an idea who has been inspired by Jamie Ward is in a position to do business with the federal government, even as he’s struggling with a serious health issue.
The former U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania has been diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer and will likely be in hospice care until his death.
But Ward is making strides toward a new path, which he calls the “Jade Path” because of his desire to lead.
In an interview with CBS News, Ward said his cancer has become so advanced that he is not able to travel on the golf course, or attend the movies.
He said he can’t work from home, and he relies on the government to help him make his business work.
“You have to get your life back,” he said.
“You have got to take a step back and you have got a plan for how to make it happen.”
But Ward also sees opportunities to do something he thinks is unique: take the government out of the business of paying for his health care.
He said he would be open to working with the government on health care issues like prescription drug coverage.
But he said he’s not looking to work with the U.N. or other international organizations.
“I don’t want to work for anyone,” he told CBS News.
“I want to be able to make my own money and make my money as a successful entrepreneur.”

“In addition to being a lawyer, Ward is a musician who wrote and performed with the band The Killers.
Ward said he is “100 percent” in the band, and that he’s looking forward to seeing his band again someday.”
It’s going to be a long road,” Ward said.”
Jade” is the title of a novel by Ward.
The novel is set in the late 1990s and tells the story of a businessman and a woman who are in a race against time to become the first woman to build a solar power plant on an Indian reservation.
Ward said he believes he will one day be the first person to power a solar system on an American reservation.”
Jade Ward and her husband, Chris Ward, founded the company JamieWard.com in 2009.”
And you have to make a decision about how to move forward.”
